    • Immersive Start (as visual scenarios) It wouldn't exactly be a mechanic per se, but a beginning that I thought would be immersive. Instead of actually starting before the chaos takes over, having an option to activate or not (since there will be players who may not like this idea) an immersive narrative before you start playing.   Since the premise is that you're certain to die and the game is only about how long your current character has managed to survive the chaos, it's interesting to stick with the game's opening statement “and that's how you died”, but with a “when it all began, you were...”, you know?   THE IDEA My initial idea was a set of images simulating some kind of linear scenario with two standard characters, a man and a woman — it will trigger depending of your choices; there's no need to colour it or draw every wear choice.   So there would be a standard story for everyone: starting at home; or two, the second would be in a supermarket doing month's shopping. But there would also be exclusives for each profession (at least one).   > For example:    • You're an unemployed person who, at the beginning of the chaos, is indoors...                 - (if you have any specific traits, for example, you're a smoker) instead of sitting on the sofa watching television, you're smoking while listening to the radio outside or watching television while leaning against an open window.    • ...when suddenly, the reporter seems startled by something and there are screams outside.   > More especific example:    • Or you're simply doing the month's shopping, checking prices when suddenly chaos breaks out. You run for cover and end up locking yourself in a room.            - (If there are NPCs) You recognize some of the people who hid with you, some of whom were leaving the place while the one next to you was in the same section as you no more than 5 minutes ago. Everyone is scared...                            - (if you have a veteran trait / police profession and have taken one of the standard starts) ...and you do your best to calm them down. Although the screams — and are those gunshots? — only seems to worsen your situation. (...)                            > [note: other professions and traits can try to calm them down, otherwise, your in need of it]                            - (...) There are people wanting to get in, but when you go to open the door, you're received by grotesque noises and desperate screams. Unfortunately, there's no more salvation for whoever they were. Gladly, your group managed not to scream when, suddenly, something advances on the door with inhuman force. You instinctively reach for your holster...                                               - (if you have a clumsy trait) ..., cursing when you realize it's empty, you must have dropped it when everyone started running over each other.                                               > [+ situation: your pistol is somewhere inside the establishment (if unlucky trait), if no one has picked it up already].                                               - (if you don't have the clumsy trait) ..., feeling safer while holding your gun.                                               - etc...            - (If there are not NPCs) You try to calm down. Though the screams — and you swear you can hear gunshots from somewhere — just aggravates it, panicking now won't help if not decrease your chances of survival.                             - (if you character's unemployed, without any panic (positive or not) traits) Your hands still shake but you're feeling your breath starting to normalize.                             > [standart situation: you start the game with slight panic]                             - (if you have the cowardly trait) But you can't stop shaking, your heart is pounding, you feel like you're going to die--                             > [+ situation: you start the game with moderate panic]                             - (if you have a claustrophobic trait and were unlucky enough to catch the beginning where you're hiding in a room) However, you feel a panic attack coming on, why did you decide to hide there? You can't breathe--                             > [+ situation: you start the game with severe panic].    • And then, there are screams outside. Horrific and desperate.                  - (if in public space / city) Suddenly, everything seems to calm down and all that's left are meaningless mutterings and the disgusting sounds of someone chewing.                  - (if distant from city) Faraway sounds, but with such an unadulterated fear that makes you shiver and start trembling. Eventually, it stops.   The scene ends and you start the game.   BUT... If I'm going too deep and that's a lot of details to take account for, we can just have a scenario that's indoors or not considering two or a little more places (home, supermarket, gas station) with or without taking account the character's profession on its start items.   To counterbalance the possibility of its start being overpower, I mean, if starts in a place considered overpower or there's great start items — maybe a potential safe place or where are many resources — our character could've been badly injuried and/or this place's alarm is ringing or the place's burning.   I've found interesting to merge it with the immersive content ideas from Raul_ and the possibility of events in-game from GhostMan.   If it's much, we can always nerf it.   ------------------------------------------------------ NOTES: Maybe is confusing, and in my defence I used Markdown and don't know if its possible here; so I had to improvise trying to make it still responsive. For some reason I can neither sign up nor sign in using Firefox (with and without extensions), but Microsoft Edge yes; so here I am, finally. The images would be kind of a set of the ones in a comic book, you know? But that's just an idea of mine!   I had this idea a few years ago but only now have I overcome my insecurity (by finally telling someone, who encouraged me to submit it). English is not my first language, so I apologize for any grammatical mistakes. Also, I'll appreciate if your kind with me and draw my attention to any grammatical errors you may find and any existent exaggerations.
    • Hi, your message is very encouraging.
    • The Muld PD looks like it's gonna make one hell of a great base.   Btw, what are the chances that we'll be able to climb those wall ladders?
    • Literally drooling over this
    • It seems to me that you made the right decision to release the 42nd patch, without waiting for the full completion of work on all the updated planned mechanics. Hopefully, we will be able to play the new unstable version before the end of the summer. I'm really looking forward to the underground levels with new lighting. Good luck! The screenshots with the map update are impressive!
